June 25 : The Day of the Sensitive Receptor George Orwell, socialist writer, born this day in 1903. Celtic feast day of 'Moluag', monk, Irish, established a monastery at Lismore, Scotland close to an ancient sacred site on a high cairn, a place that was said to be a focus for burial rites of the Pictish kings. Moluag is known to have travelled throughout the north of Scotland and to the Hebrides on his mission work. Instructed by Comgall (11 May). Born 530. It is said that Columcille (9 June) had expressed a desire to found a monastery at Lismore before moving on to establish one at Iona. It was once believed that a cure from madness could be obtained by reciting Moluag's name. Died 592.
