June 17 : The Day of Artful Force Celtic feast day of 'Nectan', forest hermit, sixth century. One of Brychan's (6 April) sons. Is said to have travelled with many people from Wales across the Bristol Channel to Devon who he would throughout his life meet on December 31. Said to have been murdered, beheaded, as his cattle were being stolen. The healing spring waters of Hartland Point, were associated with his qualities of wisdom and strength as it is said that upon his death he walked to the spring and placed his head in it for the benefit of all. Celtic feast day of 'Moling', hermit, monk, Bishop of Ferns, seventh century. Followed the practices of Kevin (3 June). Believed to have been a lover of all creatures, having a fox as his closest companion (For more folklore information see Mystical WWW Mystic's Menagerie). The 'Book of Mulling' has been attributed to Moling, despite later claims.
