August 25 : The Day of the Unabashed Extrovert Celtic feast day of 'Ebba', nun, Aidan (31 August) is said to have overseen her training and consecration. Lived at the Abbey of Coldingham, supporter to Wilfrid. Sister of Oswald (5 August). She established and conducted the practices of the Coldingham Monastery. St Abbs Head is said to be named in her honour. The monastery burnt down shortly after her death, which was believed to be recompense for the lax practices of some of the men and women who worked there. Died 683. Celtic feast day of 'Genesius' of Arles, Celt, eleventh-twelfth century, believed to have martyred for refusing to write edicts of persecution against Christians organised by the Emperor Doicletius. Associated with Gennys (2 May).

August 26 : The Day of the Supportive Partner Celtic feast day of 'Ninian', fourth century, born by the Solway Firth, established the monastic college of Whithorn. He was the son of a Galloway chieftain, and reputed to have built the first stone church, known as 'Candida Casa', meaning 'white house' in Britain. The church was dedicated by Ninian to Martin of Tours (11 November). Travelled through the Alps to Rome which is when he met Martin of Tours. Ninian's Cave, by Silurian Rock, Solway Firth, was a place of pilgrimage. Ninian was said to preach that it was through dutiful study that God would be found:

August 27 : The Day of Social Ideals 'Festival of Devaki' : East Indian. Devaki is the Mother Goddess Krishna. Celtic feast day of 'Decuman', meaning 'collector of tithes', hermit, seventh century, born of Welsh nobility, Travelled from Wales to Watchet, Somerset. Believed to have achieved the voyage on nothing more than a raft made of rushes. He is said to have taken a cow with him. Decuman was murdered, his head being severed from his body. It is said that he placed his head on a nearby stream. As was the custom with those martyred in this way, the waters gave forth strength and wisdom healing properties to all who drank of it. It is also said that having done this Decuman placed his head under his arm and returned to Wales. Samuel Goldwyn, nee Goldfish, film producer, born this day in 1882.

August 30 : The Day of the Rock Celtic feast day of 'Fiacre', hermit, monk, Irish, seventh century. Associated with Govan (20 June). Fiacre is known as the patron of all gardeners. He is usually depicted holding a spade. Buried in Meaux, France where he spent most of his time. Died 670.

August 31 : The Day of the Public Appearance Roman Emperor Caligula, 'Little Boots', born this day in AD 12. Celtic feast day of 'Aidan', monk, Irish, Bishop. Associated with Finan (17 February), Chad (2 February), Ebba (25 August), Eata (26 October). Established a monastery with his companions at Lindisfarne at the request of Oswald (5 August). Spent much of his time on missionary work with the Angles with the aim of freeing the Celts from their oppression. Realising that Oswald's castle was being attacked it is said that Aidan called upon the power of God, and at that moment the flames changed direction burning down upon Penda and his army. Cuthbert (20 March) is reputed to have has a vision of Aidan at the moment of his death being borne by angels to heaven in 651. He is said to have died at Bamburgh castle on the east coast on this day. Associated with Oswin (20 August), Hilda (17 November).
