Established a monastery near Stirling, Scotland, near Dunbland Cathedral. Believed to be able to work miracles, including being able to make fire between his fingertips, and restoring sight. A disciple of Comgall (11 May), and also Kenneth (11 October). His nephew known as Cathan established a monastery at Kingarth, Isle of Bute, of which Blane was to later oversee.

August 12 : The Day of Convention Mitcham, London, England : Traditional 'Mitcham Fair'. Celtic feast day of 'Murtagh', monk, dates are contradictory, some believing that he was a convert to Partrick (17 March) in the fifth century, others believing that Murtagh lived in the sixth century and was similar in period, practice and devotion to Columcille (7 June). Believed to have lived at Irishmurray, Donegal Bay, Ireland.

August 16 : The Day of High Voltage Celtic feast day of 'Armel', monk, Welsh, Travelled from Wales to Brittany. Depicted leading a dragon by the stole around the neck and in armour, and cast it off Mount St Armel. Cousin of Samson (28 July), and also Cadfan (1 November). Many believed that praying to Armel would reduce the effect of headaches and fever, also gout and colic. It is said that Henry VII believed himself to have been saved from death in a shipwreck by Armel. A statue of Armel can be seen at his tomb in Westminster Abbey and in Canterbury Cathedral.

Believed to have undertaken missionary work with Aidan (31 August). Buried at Tynemouth.
